Through our collaborative efforts, Mkono Kwa Mkono has walked with fifteen individuals from addiction toward empowered sobriety — each story a testament to what becomes possible when healing is collective and support is intentional.
For eighteen years, I lived in hopelessness, trapped in drug dependency and surviving on the streets of Kiwandani, Kilifi. Mkono Kwa Mkono found me, facilitated my rehabilitation, and continued to walk beside me — providing entrepreneurship skills that enabled me to start a small business. Today I am empowered by my present and inspired by the future.
Following my successful recovery, I received indispensable financial assistance from Mkono Kwa Mkono that enabled me to start a modest entrepreneurial venture. Over time my business has flourished, allowing me to provide for my family with dignity. I remain profoundly grateful for this transformative intervention.
During a period of profound despair, I found myself trapped in substance dependency on the cold pavements of Kibaoni, Kilifi. Mkono Kwa Mkono crossed my path, facilitating my admission into rehabilitation and later giving me entrepreneurship skills to build a small business. Today I stand as a testament to compassion, community, and second chances.
Recognizing that the complexity of substance misuse demands a multisectoral response, we've built a coalition of collaborators who share our vision of resilience, dignity, and public health equity — synchronizing grassroots mobilization with policy-level engagement.

Mkono Kwa Mkono is a Kilifi-based community organization dedicated to combating the scourge of drug and substance abuse across coastal Kenya. With a deep commitment to public health and social equity, we provide structured support to individuals and families affected by addiction — offering counselling, rehabilitation referrals, and community outreach rooted in empathy, evidence-based practice, and the power of community-led change.
